In the cattle business since 1934.
H.C. Sims Farms has existed in Washington County, Pennsylvania for over eighty years. The farm was founded by Mr. & Mrs. H.C. Sims both of who came from agricultural backgrounds as children. Mr. Sims was a successful businessman who never lost his love of farming. When the Sims’ had children they wanted them to grow up on a farm and develop a love of the land, understanding of animals and a strong work ethic and strong values. Their daughter, Ellen Sims is the current owner of H.C. Sims Farms in Pennsylvania and Kentucky. She is a devoted breeder of belted galloway cattle. Ellen’s nephew, Clark Sims, his wife, Traci and their son, Kyle manage and farm the very same land today. Clark raises a commercial simmental based herd and a select group of belted galloways in Pennsylvania. A majority of the registered belted galloways reside in Central Kentucky. Ellen’s niece, Becky Sims Illig and her sons: Michael, Justin and Braden are involved in some fashion with the operation of the Kentucky farm.
H.C. Sims Farms is a family business. We utilize the services of talented independent contractors to advise and assist us in the management of our belted Galloway herd. Our herd is young but we are very proud of the carefully selected acquisitions we have made to our foundation herd. Rest assured our vision at H.C. Sims Farms is always building for the future. We are responsible breeders who raise and sell the best breeding stock we can produce. We are constantly studying and testing new methods to improve the land and benefit the cattle.
As I write this I am looking over next year’s show prospects and the future looks exciting. Now I know how my father, H.C. Sims Sr. felt about his cattle and the future.
